Died unexpectedly of a heart attack Monday morning at his home. He was a graduate of DuPont High School (Hermitage, TN) in 1979 and University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1983, where he majored in music with a minor in Geology. Since college, he worked in the airlines industry. While there, he traveled throughout the US and chose to live in his considered most beautiful places. He was well respected as a South West Airlines employee of 16 years and considered them family, in Portland, OR. Dana was a classically trained pianist and outstanding golfer. Above all, he was a family man. He managed his life carefully with integrity and acted as a professional with grace, kindness and a style that few possess. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy of 19 years, and his adored children, Lauren and Emily. Also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Conklin Royster of Vancouver, WA; his brother, David Royster, Jr. ('77) of Greenville, KY; David's daughters, Megan Royster of Chicago and Paige Royster of Evansville, IN; and sister-in-law, Helen Royster and her son, Dylan of Nashville, TN. Preceded in death by brother, Kevin ('81) and father, David Royster, Sr., both of Nashville, TN and uncle, F. James Conklin of Kingsport, TN. Also, grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Fred R. Conklin of Kingsport, TN, and Mr. and Mrs, G.W. Royster of Cross Plains, TN. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2nd at Vancouver Church of Christ on Padden Parkway, Vancouver, WA.
