Hendersonville, TN Age 90 Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 11, 2011. Sarah was one of twelve children born to Myrtle and Joseph Clay on April 14, 1921, near Hohenwald, TN. She was married to Goldman Dewitt Freeland for 71 years, during which they enjoyed golfing with friends, square dancing, clogging and traveling with friends and family. She was also an avid UT fan of football, basketball, and Lady Vols basketball. Sarah and Goldman were involved in five churches in two states, becoming active in church work and Sunday schools, the latest being the Followers Class of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. Sarah is survived by her husband, Goldman; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Richard Kuhn of Memphis, TN; Sheila and Crawford Harris and Debby and Terry Dykeman of Hendersonville, TN; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. A Life Celebration will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday December 14, 2011 at Hendersonville Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 5 p.m. -7 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hendersonville Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Followers Sunday School Class or The Children First Program both of Hendersonville First United Methodist Church.
