Age 89
Mrs. Brown was born May 9, 1922 in Scottsville, KY to the late Edward L. and Iva Mae Gilliam Chandley. She moved to Old Hickory, TN at an early age and attended DuPont Elementary School and graduated from DuPont High School. Mrs. Brown was an active member of Green Hill Baptist Church and a charter member of Victory Baptist Church. She was retired from DuPont, was a member of the Needmore Bridge Club for over 60 years and was a member of Green Hill Woman's Club, where she held various positions. She loved to travel and was a member of Ilene's Bunch travel group. Mrs. Brown was also preceded in death by her husbands, William C. George, Jr. and William W. Brown, and her sister, Margaret C. Doris ('40). She is survived by daughters, Kathy George Barnes ('71) and Melissa George Ashburn; son, Steve (Jonna) Brown; brother, Edward L. Chandley, Jr. ('47); sisters, Minta S. Jackson ('42) and Ann C. (Don) Reeves ('51); sister-in-law, Blanche Ahern; grandchildren, Emily (Nick) Stiles, Bryan (Erin) Barnes, Andrew Lee Ashburn II, Molly C. Ashburn and Ashley (Audrey) Brown; great-grandchildren, Ella MacKenzie Stiles, Owen Nicholas Stiles, Emmalily Ovella Barnes and Aleah Bartlett. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2012 at Victory Baptist Church, 1777 Tate Lane, Mt. Juliet, TN, with Rev. Chuck Groover officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be family. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ilene's Bunch, Dr. Abdul Enayat and staff, the staff of Provision Living and Dr. Ben Elliot.
