Kingston, Arkansas Age 67 October 30, 2011 Died at Hospice of the Hills in Harrison, Arkansas. He was born February 7, 1944 at Lobelville, Tennessee, the son of Wallace and Jean Gilmer Bates. He was a graduate of Dupont High School in Old Hickory, Tennesse and a 1967 graduate of Middle Tennessee State University. He was a retired business owner, sales manager and rancher. He enjoyed gardening, rodeo, his motorcycle, the outdoors and cooking. He was preceded in death by his father, his stepfather, Walter H. Greenwood, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gilmer and Uncle Joe Gilmer. Survivors include: his wife, Debbi Fancher Bates of the home; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Clayton Bates of Branson, Missouri and Justin and Alicia Bates of Kirbyville, Missouri; his mother, Jean Greenwood of Dickson, Tennessee; five uncles and aunts, Johnnia Clark of Lobelville, Tennessee, Leta and Hugh Fisher of Lafayette, Louisiana and Doris and David Hollbrook of Nashville, Tennesse and several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, November 2, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with The Reverend Ed Ledbetter officiating. Pallbearers will be: Sammy Smith, David Smith, Jerry Smith, Bobby Usrey, Dean Bowles and Johnny Hudsell. The family will receive friends from 5:30 P. M. to 7:30 P. M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Friday, November 4, at the Gilmer Cemetery in Lobelville, Tennessee with The Reverend Ron Jones officiating.
